Ashanti Douglas, popularly referred to as Ashanti was born in Glen Cove New York United States on the 13th of October, 1980. She is an actor and singer who hails from her native United States. Ashanti was discovered as an 18-year-old and was signed to Murder Inc. Records in 2002. Ashanti was featured in Fat Joe's What's Luv? song that was released the following year. She also appeared in Fat Joe's track"What's Luv?" The first female artist to hold the top two spots on Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at number one and What's Luv? She became the first female artist to hold both the highest two positions on the US Billboard Hot 100 and with the number one spot held by Foolish. one and the other being What's Loving? The second spot is ours. her birthday here. Ashanti Douglas, or Ashanti as she's more commonly known was born at Glen Cove New York in 1980. Tina Douglas' mother was a dance instructor and Ken-Kaide Douglas, the parent of Ashanti Douglas is also a vocalist. The oldest of the three is Sheshia is the younger sister. Douglas has named her Ashanti to honor Ghana's Ashanti Empire, where women held power and had an influence. Douglas wanted Ashantis to adopt this same model. James her father was a civil rights leader who collaborated with Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1960s. Ashanti's mom discovered Ashanti's talent when she heard her sing Mary J. Blige Reminisce. Ashanti played a role as a young part-time actress in Spike Lee's Malcolm X from 1992, and Ted Demme's Who's the Man? Additionally, she was featured in various music videos including K.R.S. Act One's MCs Don't They Know and 8-Off Ghetto Girls. Ashanti was approached and signed by several record labels, among them Bad Boy. She also appeared in a couple of music videos. She continued to perform at New York, and spent in the Murder Inc. studios hoping to land a major break. Ashanti first appeared in the role of background vocalist for Big Pun on the song "How We Roll". She also appeared on the Fat Joe's song What's Luv? and Ja Rule's Always on Time. On her first song, Foolish, DeBarge's Stay With Me that was recorded in 1983 is sampled. Ashanti dropped her self-titled debut album in 2002 via Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. label. The Declaration, Ashanti's fourth studio album was released the 3rd of June, 2008. On the 16th October Hey Baby (After the Club) was released to the radio and online outlets. She portrayed Latasha as Latasha in Army Wives and starred in the film Christmas in the City. The track Rock wit U was sampled by British musician Aitch for his track Baby on the 10th of March 2022.
